Vision of TCI

The overall approach of the work of TCI is based on an integrative system concept.
All sectors of mobility – demand and supply side, transport and traffic side –have to be seen as a complex system. All interactions of these components have to be integrated and consider in an overall planning and transport research concept.


The integrative system concept is based on three pillars:

  • In addition to the transport system environmental, regional and urban planning, economics and social aspects have to be taken into account

  • TCI is dealing with applications that enable quantitative and qualitative assessments of an integrated transport system that also integrated the interactions of all modes of transport.

  • The consideration of all relevant needs of stakeholder and interested groups is guaranteed by a a participation concept integrating main stakeholders
The main tasks of TCI are:

  • Identification of the relevant components and interactions on the transport markets

  • Estimation of quantitative impacts and assessment of transport policy measures - and with this

  • Creating the basics and background for strategical policy analysis decisions

TCI is using its own IT applications and models which enable the estimation, analysis, forecasting of transport demand and the assessemnt of transport policy measures on local, regional, national and international geographical level.
